Mother Earth

This large 4ft x 8ft 1950's panel of wood, is the backdrop for this oil painting. The paint has been rubbed into the wood allowing the old grain to become a feature. The shapes in the wood have been coloured differently to allow them to show at their best. Mother Earth indeed. The work took many months of work and further months to dry. It is framed in wood. It is best shown in an area where one can see it alone and from a distance. This is one of Jane's larger paintings. The Regal Embrace

The Regal Embrace is a startling stark painting that fills any room with humour and love. Superb clean lines define the two major trees. On a wall alone it stands out not only for the colour but for the subject matter that we can relate to, despite it being trees. Simple and powerful. After the Hurricane

Perhaps this has meaning more to those who have seen a forest after a hurricane has torn through. Here Jane has shown one tiny section of a vast area that was destroyed. Painted in the palest colours it still is a bright painting. Pockets of snow remain at the foot of the trees their ragged tops split, recovery will be slow. However two slender saplings bend in a supple arch. Even in their ragged broken and split remains one gets the impresssion of life and happiness. The Secret Rendezvous

The Secret Rendezvous is almost moving when you look at it closely. These trees communicating need only a small imagination to make a story from their position and appearance. The Twins

Twins is from a very popular spot, The Roundhouse Lodge, on Whistler Mountain looking across the valley to Blackcomb Mountain. The beauty of the tall straight evergreens coated branch by branch, twig by twig in icy snow, made the focal point. Cracking with Cold

Cracking with Cold is of a Lake in the Callaghan Valley in winter. The temperature is way below zero and it was too cold to paint the scene on site. As it was Jane's fingers became stiff with cold and she had to stop a few times to do exercises to warm them up. Whistler (Callaghan Valleys B.C.) Bird on Tree

High up in the mountains where the skiers rest before taking off downhill, these views are almost hypnotic with ranges of mountains visible for miles. The silence is loud! The winds have nothing to stop them and the snow falls are a skier's dream. It is at this height that the raven calls it home. Here they rule the air and will come to your call. Rough Sea

A lonely beach and the tide coming in, the seas were beginnning to react to a storm far out to sea. Here the flat beaches allow the water to come in fast and the waves were being whipped by the wind. Top of Whistler Mountain

Top of Whistler is the location. It takes a gondola and a ski lift to get there. Looking down from the highest point this is what you see. The penmanship in this is one that would be hard to beat anywhere. It is a classic pen and Ink with wash. This would fit well in an office or in a place where the viewer can study it with time. I am the King

When I first saw Jane painting this tree, I, as many passers by were inclined to laugh at Jane's subject matter. Given a huge forest with hundreds of ancient trees in this forest, Jane sat down and sketched and painted this King. Only later when I went back to view the area with some prospective buyer of Jane's work did I understand. The tree stands alone and catches the direct sunlight through the forest top.It alone takes the sun as the shafts of light appear to concentrate in that section. Further it stands powerfully upright with few branches, to a great height perched on the dying parts of its Mother tree, who gave it life and gave it the nourishment it required. Its roots entwined many deep in to the mother tree and others wrapped around the roots of other trees. Symbolic indeed. Rightfully named. The King. First Snowfall Whistler B.C. Canada

The First snowfall in Whistler is a lovely intense painting, detailed trees, and harsh landscape softened by the snowfall. Contrasts within the painting are very noticeable. The workmanship in this painting is excellent and you can feel the intense lines. When Jane is enjoying her subject the lines become defined and intense and she herself becomes oblivious to her surroundings. This makes things very easy for she can paint in a crowded area as easily as in an isolated one. She and her pen or brush are a world unto themselves. Alexander Falls B.C. Canada

Alexander Falls is perhaps one of Jane's very favourite subjects be it in Winter or Summer it is always there waiting for her to paint or draw its image. When Jane describes this Waterfall, you know that she has a close feeling for it. It now is a tourist attraction. Only four years ago hardly anybody knew of its existence except a few people who explore the wilds of the backcountry. Then the Olympics of 2010 opened up the entire valley including giving the viewpoint of the Falls a new face. These are lovely falls in a now not so wild area! This is one of the most liveable paintings in this group. You can look at it for moments or hours, it will stay with you. Lost in the Deep Forest B.C.

This painting is an excellent painting, the penmanship in this painting is some of the very best. Since much of this forest did indeed look similar, it is easy to become disorientated. Heavy foliage at the top of the forest letting little light through does not offer any help if a person does get lost. Oil 10 x 14 inches Assessed value: $3,000 (shipping extra)

Over the edge at Brandy Wine Falls, does portray the Falls well. However the leading interest of this painting is of the trees who appear to be running down the hill. I went there to see what Jane had painted and there they were. Individual trees all bent on running down the slope. Perhaps if I had not seen her painting, I might not have noticed as the Falls themselves are spectacular, as one can see them from above easily. However I did remark to a tourist there Do you think that those trees look as if they are moving down the hill? and she corrected me. No dear, they are running down the hill.
